My first priority would be the socio-economic development of the country. The India Shining story has not happened so far. A few months ago the markets were down, deficits were skyrocketing and the entire economy was in limbo. After the elections, the markets have bounced back breaking the gloomy pessimism of the earlier times with nascent optimism. This election was an election of hope but this optimism will soon fade away unless something substantial is done, not only on paper but also at the grassroots level. Right now, we face the Herculean task of containing inflation and reducing the deficits. Clear cut and transparent policies need to be drafted to boost investment. Infrastructure development and power are great challenges as well as opportunities which we need to tap into and finally we should work for providing equal opportunities to people for social inclusion.
