FM Jaitley allocates Rs 2,460 crore for defence

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the government plans to spend Rs 2.46 lakh crore (US $40 billion) on the defence sector in the 2015-16 financial year.

 
 
"The government will spend Rs 70,000 crore ($11.3 billion) next fiscal to upgrade infrastructure and attract foreign investment", Arun Jaitley said.
The Economic Survey had on Friday said that growth will receive a boost from the cumulative impact of reforms, lower oil prices, likely monetary policy
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also said in his Budget speech that the government wanted to provide medical facilities in each village and city.
 
 
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the NDA government has been able to convert cleanliness into a movement and 'Swachh Bharat' was among the key achievements.
"We are committed to implementing a state of the art indirect tax system, the Goods and Services Tax, from April 1, 2016," Jaitley told the Lok Sabha.
Jaitley delivering his first full-year budget, said economic growth would accelerate to between 8 and 8.5 per cent in the fiscal year starting in April.
