India's data systems must be improved; deaths being undercounted: WHO

A COVID-19 variant spreading in India is more contagious and may be dodging vaccine protections, contributing to the country's explosive outbreak, the World Health Organization's chief scientist, Dr Soumya Swaminathan said Saturday. In a conversation with India Today, Swaminathan said that the current number of COVID-19 cases in India is significantly underreported. She further added that primary healthcare needs to be strengthened at the earliest and communities must come together for this. Watch the video for more.
