Forbes released the list of 100 richest self-made women of America last month. The list featured four Indian American women alongside stars like Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey and Taylor Swift
The 62-year old CEO of Arista Networks is the richest Indian-origin woman on the list at number 15. Jayshree has been the CEO and President of the California-based computer networking firm since 2008. She owns about 2.4% of Arista’ stocks while her net worth is $2.2 billion. Arista recorded a revenue of $4.4 billion in 2022
The co-founder of IT consulting and outsourcing firm Syntel, Neerja Sethi is the next Indian-origin woman on the list at number 25. Neerja founded Syntel with her husband Bharat Desai in 1980. In 2018, French IT firm Atos SE bought Syntel for $3.4 billion and $510 million out of that went to Neerja for her stake in the firm. Currently, her net worth is $990 million
Neha is the youngest Indian American on the list at the age of 38. With a net worth of $520 million, Neha is ranked 50th on the list. She helped in developing the open-source messaging system Apache Kafka while she was working at LinkedIn, which is used to handle the massive influx of data. Later, Neha and her two colleagues left the networking site to start their own firm Confluent, which helps organisation in handling massive amounts of data on Apache Kafka
The former CEO of PepsiCo, Indira Nooyi is the last Indian-origin woman on the list. She is ranked 77th on the list with a net worth of $350 million. 67-year-old Indira worked in PepsiCo for 24 years before retiring in 2019. She was the CEO of the company for 12 years during which she doubled the sales and started many environment friendly practices. She also introduced healthier products while thwarting a bid for breakup of the company
The list was topped by Diane Hendricks for sixth year in a row with a net worth of $15 billion. Hendricks is the co-founder of ABC supply, one of the biggest distributors of roofing, siding and windows in US
Pop star Rihanna and model Kim Kardashian also featured on the list at rank 20 and 21 respectively. Rihanna has a net worth of $1.4 billion while Kim is next with $1.2 billion of net worth
Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of social media giant YouTube is also on the list at rank 32. Susan, who was in Google since its incorporation, became the CEO of YouTube in 2014 after Google acquired it. She stepped down earlier this year in February. Susan currently has a net worth of $750 million
Another singer on the list is British pop star Taylor Swift ranked 34th on the list. The singer who is currently on her highest grossing Eras Tour has a net worth of $740 million. She is joined on the list by Kylie Cosmetics founder, Kylie Jenner whose net worth of $680 million has put her on number 38 in the list
