India recorded a daily increase of 760 new Covid cases, with two additional fatalities reported, according to the health ministry on Thursday. 5 deaths were also reported on Wednesday. The current count of active infection cases stands at 4,423, as per the latest ministry's update.

WHO Issues Safety Measures

In response to the surge, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued crucial safety measures to help individuals protect themselves.

Vaccination Urgency

WHO emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated as per local guidance to curb the spread of the virus.

Physical Distancing Crucial

Maintaining physical distance of at least 1 meter is advised, even if individuals show no symptoms. Avoiding crowds and close contact situations remains crucial.

Mask-Wearing Guidelines

Proper mask-wearing is important, including ensuring masks cover the nose, mouth, and chin. Guidelines also include mask storage, hand hygiene before and after use, and discouraging masks with valves.

Responsible Coughing and Sneezing Practices

Individuals are urged to cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing, using elbows or tissues. Proper disposal of used tissues and regular hand cleaning are emphasized.

Hygiene Practices and Self-Isolation

WHO recommends regular hand cleaning, disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, and self-isolation for at least 7 days if symptomatic or testing positive for COVID-19. Creating a safer environment involves avoiding closed spaces, crowded places, and close contact, opting for outdoor gatherings, and increasing ventilation in indoor spaces.

Immediate Medical Attention if Unwell

Individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing are advised to seek medical attention promptly. Self-isolation for at least 10 days from symptom onset, plus three days after symptoms cease, is crucial. Caution is advised against self-medication, and staying informed through reliable sources like WHO and local health authorities is recommended.
