The UAE has suspended tourist and work visas for nationals of nine countries as part of its new 2026 visa policy.
The countries impacted are: Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda.
The suspension is effective immediately and will continue until further notice. Existing visa holders are not affected.
The UAE has cited security, political, and health concerns as drivers behind this move, including terrorism risks, diplomatic tensions, and pandemic safety measures.
This measure is part of the UAE’s long-term 2026 visa strategy, aimed at tightening immigration, safeguarding national security, and managing labor and tourism flows.
Citizens of the affected nations cannot obtain new visas, limiting travel and work opportunities. Companies and travel agencies will need to adjust business and travel plans accordingly.
Countries in Africa and the Middle East will feel the most impact, as many nationals from these regions frequently travel to the UAE for work or business.
Indian citizens are excluded from this ban. Indians can continue applying for tourist and work visas to the UAE without restriction.
The UAE’s decision reflects a more stringent immigration approach, showing how the country plans to manage international mobility under its 2026 strategic vision.
