Indian archery duo has bagged the 16th gold for India in mixed compound archery team event. Lovlina Borgohain settles for a silver in the 75kgs category. Reigning world champion Neeraj Chopra will also start his campaign with three more athletics medal events scheduled for the day
Indian archers Ojas Deotale and Joythi Surekha have won the 16th gold medal for the country in compound archery mixed team event. The duo defeated Republic of Korea’s (South Korea’s) So Chaewon and Joo Jaehoon by a score of 159-158. This is also the second archery gold medal for India in Asian Games history
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain settled for a sliver as she faced Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Li Qian from China in the gold medal match at Asian Games 2023. Borgohain has already secured her place for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024.
The Indian Men’s Hockey team defeated the four-time Champions Republic of Korea (South Korea) by 5-3 to reach the final and confirm their place in next year's Olympics. They will now face either Japan or the hosts China in the final match of the tournament.
Apart from the gold win on Wednesday, India already has three more archery medals confirmed as Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma will face each other in the gold medal match of Compound Archery on Saturday. Indian pair of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh have won a bronze medal in the Squash mixed doubles event. The pair lost to Malaysia by 2-1 in the semi-final round. The other Indian duo of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh will face the Malaysian pair in the gold medal match
India’s athletes Manju Rani and Ram Baboo have also secured a bronze medal in the 35 km race walk event. India has now won 23 medals from the athletics events
Reigning Olympics and World Champion Neeraj Chopra will look to win the gold in Asian Games as well, as he will be in action later in the final round on Wednesday. With Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem missing out, Chopra has a very strong chance of walking away with the gold
