Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is far more than just a cricketer. He owns a gym franchise and is also a co-owner of Indian Super League team Chennaiyin FC. But Dhoni didn’t stop there as he also started his own production house in 2019 by the name of Dhoni Entertainment Limited (DEL).
Now, the CSK skipper is set to make his debut as a producer and that too in Tamil film industry. The DEL production house is set to release their maiden film titled ‘Let’s Get Married’ later this year.
Earlier this week, MS Dhoni landed in Chennai for the audio and trailer launch of his first film as a producer. Dhoni was visiting the city for the first time after guiding CSK towards a record fifth IPL title. He received a grand welcome with his wife Sakshi.
During the event, the Dhoni shared the kind of bond he shares with his CSK teammate, Deepak Chahar. He said, “Deepak Chahar is like a drug, if he is not there, you would think, where is he - if he is around, you would think, why he is here - good part is that he is maturing but he takes time and that is the problem, in my lifetime, I won't see him matured. He will mature at 50 and be smart enough as how Ziva is now at 8.”
Deepak Chahar is a right-arm pacer who got injured during the third game of CSK in 2023 season. He then made a surprise comeback and finished the domestic league with 13 wickets in 10 matches. But, the 30-year-old still failed to get a spot in team India for their tour of West Indies.
Actor Yogi Babu who is also playing a role in ‘Let’s Get Married’ asked his producer Dhoni during the event to hire him for the IPL team CSK. Dhoni gave an epic response to the actor by saying, “Rayudu [Ambati] is retired. So, we do have a place for you in CSK. I'll speak to the management. But you are so busy in films. I'll tell you, you have to play consistently. They bowl very fast and they bowl to injure you only.”
MS Dhoni has a special connection with the capital of Tamil Nadu as he has played for Chennai Super Kings since the starting of IPL in 2008. During the audio launch he conveyed the same, “My first test debut is in Chennai. My highest test score is in Chennai and now my first movie is in Tamil. Chennai is more special to me. I was adopted here in 2008 when IPL started.”
Another thing that the fans loved was the new look of Thala during the launch. Dhoni also clicked a selfie with one of his superfans during his trip back to Ranchi.
Ever since the end of IPL questions about Dhoni retiring from the tournament have been doing rounds on social media. After winning the IPL 2023 trophy, underwent a knee surgeryin Mumbai. The CSK skipper is yet to clear the air around his future at the IPL franchise.
