India ODI captain Rohit Sharma has lost 10 kilograms ahead of his anticipated ODI return, revealing a fitter, leaner physique that has fans and teammates buzzing.
Rohit is expected to return on October 19, when India begins their three-match ODI series against Australia.
Former India batting coach Abhishek Nayar, a close friend, shared an image of Rohit training in Mumbai, captioning it: “10,000 grams later, we keep pushing.”
Rohit last played for India in the Champions Trophy final earlier this year in Dubai and the IPL 2025 season in May.
He was expected to feature in three 50-over matches for India A against Australia A in Kanpur but was not named in the squad, alongside Virat Kohli.
Rumors suggested that Rohit and Kohli might make their final international appearance in Australia. Both retired from T20Is in June last year and from Test cricket in May 2025.
Selectors are reportedly encouraging the duo to play domestic cricket to maintain form and fitness for ODI selection, possibly extending their careers up to the 2027 World Cup.
Rohit completed his pre-season fitness tests in Bengaluru at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, extending training sessions to prepare for the Australia ODI series.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, conducted his fitness test in London after the IPL 2025 season, keeping both senior batters ready for potential ODI action.
