Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken the IPL record by scoring the fastest half-century in the history of the cricket league. Jaiswal smashed 50 runs off 13 balls breaking the joint record held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins who scored 50 runs off 14 balls

Yashasvi Jaiswal was born in a middle-class family in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. His father then owned a small hardware store and his mother Kanchan Jaiswal is a homemaker. He has five other siblings. Yashasvi was always passionate about cricket and did not let financial constraints come in the way of his dreams as he left his home at the age of 10

With a limited amount of money in his pocket, UP boy Yashasvi moved to Dadar, Mumbai, to receive cricket coaching at Azad Maidan. But it used to take him hours to reach the training ground and he was not ready to make any compromise with cricket

Yashasvi agreed to work as a low-grade worker in a dairy shop at Azad Maidan and in return, he was provided with a make-shift accommodation. But, his tough training hours didn’t leave him with much time to work and he was evicted. This left him homeless and with meagre financial resources

With no other alternative, Yashasvi Jaiswal started staying in tents erected on Azad Maidan along with the groundsmen. To support himself, he placed a pani-puri (snack) stall near the ground itself. He used to practise the entire day and towards the evening, he would sell pani-puri. All this while, Jaiwal did not lose sight of his goal to enter the Indian cricket team

After living in tents for three years, Jaiswal's cricketing talent was spotted in December 2013 by Jwala Singh, who ran a cricket academy in Santacruz. He took Jaiswal under his wing and provided him with a place to stay. He later became his legal guardian

In 2015, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 319 not out and took 13/99 in a Giles Shield match, which was an all-round record in school cricket. This was recognised by the Limca Book of Records. He was then selected in Mumbai under-16 squad followed by India under-19 team. Since then, there has been no looking back for him

- Highest run-scorer (318 runs) and player of the tournament at the Under-19 Asia Cup 2018 
- In 2019, he became the youngest double centurion in the history of List A cricket at 17 years, 292 days by scoring 203 runs off 154 balls in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match 
- Yashasvi became the leading scorer in 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup after scoring a century against Pakistan in the semi-final

- In 2019, he struck 173 off 220 balls in a Youth Test match against South Africa under-19s
- Later that year, he scored 294 runs in 7 matches, including four half-centuries, in the under-19 tri-series in England which also featured Bangladesh

It was the 184th wicket of his IPL career. The 32-year-old, who was tied with Dwayne Bravo on 183 IPL wickets, broke the record in his 143rd IPL match
