Domestic benchmarks on Wednesday closed in the red, dragged by banks, financials and automobile stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty fell 17 points or 0.08% to settle at 22,201-level. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack slipped 118 points or 0.16% to end at 72,987. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Coal India, Cipla, BPCL, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid while losers included Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Asian Paints, Eicher Motors and Britannia.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Cipla and Coal India were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel and Power Grid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Hitachi Energy India Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 9.8% on NSE today to settle at Rs 10,745.65. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 45,541.9 crore.
ITI Ltd shares soared 9.79% to close at Rs 313.55. The company's m-cap came at Rs 30,128.6 crore.
Thermax Ltd shares surged 8.35% to close at Rs 5,087.8. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 60,624.3 crore. Brigade Enterprises, Jubilant Ingrevia, Siemens, SKF India and Timken India were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 5.23% to close at Rs 2,672.55 on Wednesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 72,689.5 crore.
Aarti Industries Ltd shares slipped 4.76% to end the session at Rs 621.9. The company's m-cap came at Rs 22,544.1 crore today. Archean Chemical Industries, Jyothy Labs, Jindal Stainless, Devyani International and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
