Benchmark indices on Tuesday scaled their fresh all-time high levels, led by gains in consumer, energy and state-owned lenders. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 21,453-level after hitting a record intraday high of 21,505. The 30-share BSE Sensex pack also touched a fresh peak of 71,624 before settling at 71,437. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Coal India, Nestle India, NTPC, Tata Consumer Products and Cipla while losers included Adani Ports, Wipro, Adani Enterprises, UPL and TCS.
Stocks such as Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, SBI, Coal India and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ONGC and NTPC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
Shares of DCM Shriram emerged as the top gainer in the NSE 500 index. The stock zoomed 10.91% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,106.8.
Orient Electric shares also jumped 8.01% to close at Rs 235.5. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 5,024.8 crore.
Shares of Century Plyboards (India) surged 6.91% to end at Rs 821.8 today. The company's market cap came at Rs 18,258.2 crore.
Shares of Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd gained 6.41% today to settle at Rs 982.2. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 14,022.6 crore.
Shares of KFIN Technologies fell sharply today. The stock dived 4.82% to close at Rs 488.2 on Tuesday.
Steel Authority of India (SAIL) shares slipped 3.81% to end the session at Rs 111.05. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 45,869.5 crore today.
Shares of Sundaram Finance were also among top losers in the NSE 500 pack today. The stock lost 3.64% to settle at Rs 3,650.5. The company's market cap was at Rs 40,558.5 crore.
"We are seeing buying interest on every dip in the index and that reaffirms our bullish view. it is critical to identify the pattern of rotational buying across sectors and place the trading positions accordingly," said Ajit Mishra, SVP - Technical Research at Religare Broking.
