There will be no action on Indian stock exchanges on Thursday, May 29, 2023, on account of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakri Id) holiday. Maharashtra's general administration had changed the holiday from June 28 to June 29 in its notice dated Monday, June 28
Both the leading stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE will remain shut today. The day of expiry of month futures and options (F&O) derivative contracts shifted to Wednesday, June 28.
The currency markets will also remain shut on Thursday. Commodity markets will also remain closed on Thursday but trading will resume in the evening session from 5 pm onwards. For the commodity derivative segment as well, trading will be unavailable in morning and available in evening.
India's first listed exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX), will also remain closed for trading in the morning session. Trading will resume in evening sessions on June 29, 2023.
Trading in the equity, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and currency derivative segments on bourses BSE and NSE, along with the forex market, will resume on Friday, June 30.
BSE has listed 15 holidays for equity, equity derivatives, and SLB segments for 2023. The next stock market holiday will fall on August 15, 2023 on the account of Independence Day.
There is only one stock market holiday in September on the 19th due to Ganesh Chaturthi. In October, the Indian share market will remain closed twice on 2nd and 24th on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.
In November, stock exchanges will see no trading activity on the 14th and 27th on account of Diwali-Balipratipada and Gurunanak Jayanti respectively. In December, bourses will remain closed on December 25 for Christmas.
Benchmark indices ended at record closing highs on Wednesday. The 30-share pack BSE Sensex gained 499.39 points, or 0.79% to settle at 63,915.42, while NSE's Nifty50 surged 154.70 points, or 0.82% to settle at a fresh closing peak of 18,972.10.
