Benchmark indices settled in the green on Tuesday, led by gains in IT stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty climbed 3 points or 0.01 per cent to close at 22,336-level. The 30-share BSE pack rose 165 points or 0.22 per cent to end at 73,668. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were HDFC Bank, LTIMindtree, TCS, Maruti and Infosys while losers included Adani Enterprises, Grasim, Cipla, Adani Ports and SBI.
Stocks such as ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, TCS and SBI were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel and ITC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of HEG Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 7.94% on NSE today to settle at Rs 1,808.85. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 6,981.4 crore.
Linde India Ltd shares soared 7% to close at Rs 6,320.25. The company's m-cap came at Rs 53,901.8 crore.
Balkrishna Industries Ltd shares surged 4.35% to close at Rs 2,344.4. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 45,321.3 crore. Ingersoll-Rand (India), Poonawalla Fincorp, Torrent Power and IndiaMART InterMESH were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Swan Energy Ltd Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 18.49% to close at Rs 546 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 17,114.8 crore.
Godfrey Phillips India Ltd shares tanked 10.74% to end the session at Rs 3,246.35. The company's m-cap came at Rs 16,879 crore today. Infibeam Avenues, Elgi Equipments, Patanjali Foods and Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
