Benchmark indices on Tuesday continued their upward run for the sixth straight session, led by gains in banks, financials and media stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty finally closed at 22,196.95-level after hitting an all-time high of 22,215.60. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were PowerGrid, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, NTPC and Kotak Mahindra Bank while losers included Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, Coal India and TCS.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, Coal India, PowerGrid and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel and NTPC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Allcargo Logistics Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 13.73% on NSE today to settle at Rs 85.3. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 8,383.1 crore.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd Ltd shares soared 7.93% to close at Rs 192.65. The company's m-cap came at Rs 18,504.4 crore.
EID Parry (India) Ltd shares surged 6.4% to close at Rs 637.95. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 11,324.7 crore. Gujarat Ambuja Exports, Home First Finance, Paytm and TV18 Broadcast were some of the other gainers.
Shares of The New India Assurance Company Ltd (NIACL) fell sharply today. The stock dived 5.79% to close at Rs 279.3 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 46,028.6 crore.
Federal Bank Ltd shares slipped 5.25% to end the session at Rs 154.4. The company's m-cap came at Rs 37,587.5 crore today. Mangalore Refinery, BEML, GIC-Re and Hero MotoCorp were among some other laggards.
