Benchmark indices -- BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty -- on Tuesday traded higher, led by gains in IT, automobile and consumer durable stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,198.35-level. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Tata Motors, TCS, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank and Sun Pharma while losers included Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finance, SBI, Bajaj Finserv and Divi's Labs.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, TCS and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. PowerGrid, Tata Steel, ONGC and SBI were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of BEML Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 9.75% on NSE today to settle at Rs 3,372.75. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 14,045.7 crore.
Intellect Design Arena Ltd shares soared 7.68% to close at Rs 1,058.7. The company's m-cap came at Rs 14,482.6 crore.
Jamna Auto Industries Ltd shares surged 7.44% to close at Rs 124.15. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 4,951.9 crore. KNR Constructions, BSE, Motilal Oswal Financial Services and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company were some of the other gainers.
Shares of Vodafone Idea Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 5.93% to close at Rs 15.85 on Tuesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 77,157.5 crore.
FDC Ltd shares slipped 5.46% to end the session at Rs 456.25. The company's m-cap came at Rs 7,428.2 crore today. Godawari Power & Ispat, Adani Energy Solutions, Shriram Finance and Varun Beverages were among some other laggards.
