UIDAI has set July 14 as the last date for citizens to update their Aadhaar card data for free. Here’s a step by step guide on how to update your Aadhaar using the official online portal.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been urging people to update data on their Aadhaar card if it was issued 10 years ago and hasn’t been updated since.
People can use the official online portal if they want to update demographic information like name, address or date of birth for free till today (June 14). The other option is to visit a nearby Aadhaar Update Center.
People can visit the official website myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in to update their data
People can login to the online portal using their Aadhaar number. Once you fill your Aadhaar details, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number which will be needed to login.
After logging in, click on the ‘Document Update’ section, verify your details and update the information you need to change. After that, you can upload the documents required to validate the change. People also have to give an identity or address proof.
People can upload various documents to validate their ID proof like bank passbook or statement, passport, post office passbook or statement, driving license, voter ID, pensioner card, CGHS/ECHS card and insurance policy among many others.
Users can check the status of their updated information by using the Unique Request Number (URN).
After June 14, UIDAI will charge Rs 50 for updating your Aadhaar Card information using the online portal. The same amount is already being charged at the physical Aadhaar Update Centers.
