The action came soon after she alleged that the Chief Minister’s post in the state was “up for sale”, accusing the Punjab Congress unit of internal corruption and infighting. She further claimed that her husband, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, would not return to active politics unless declared the party’s CM face. Her remarks snowballed into a full-blown controversy, with the Aam Aadmi Party launching attacks on the Congress, and the BJP calling her statement a “confession” of corruption.
