FM Sitharaman Unveils AI Centres Of Excellence In Key Sectors At IFQM Symposium

At the IFQM Annual Symposium, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the government’s plan to establish Institutes of Excellence for AI-related R&D and training, focusing on agriculture, education, health, and urban living. She added that NITI Aayog has proposed expanding this to include space and nuclear technology as well. Each institution will specialize in its assigned sector, drawing young talent with AI exposure and advancing domain-specific innovations. Sitharaman emphasized that these AI Centers of Excellence will strengthen India’s technological leadership, enhance applied research, and support skill development. This initiative is set to create a robust ecosystem for innovation, helping India harness AI across critical areas of growth and national importance.
