Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos said the state is working on a long-term development roadmap with a focus on industrial investment, manufacturing and job creation. In conversation with Siddharth Zarabi, Sanghavi said Gujarat is implementing a development plan originally envisioned under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing projects such as GIFT City as examples of long-gestation ideas now taking shape. He said the state aims to attract large industrial investments, support domestic champions and enable companies from Gujarat to enter global and domestic corporate rankings, including the Fortune 500 and India’s BT 500. Sanghavi added that as India moves from a $4 trillion economy towards a $10 trillion economy, Gujarat is working to increase its contribution, particularly in manufacturing, where the state expects its share to rise in the coming years.
