Prime Minister Modi Say Careless Spending Could Turn States Into Pakistan, Sri Lanka

In his explosive ‘Motion of Thanks’ speech in the Rajya Sabha on Feb 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had some words of caution for the states which have adopted the economically-unviable Old Pension Scheme. Addressing the upper house, Prime Minister Modi appealed to states to be fiscally smart so that there is no undue burden on future generations. He also cited the economic failures in Pakistan and Sri Lanka to highlight this argument.
