Supreme Court Allows Green Crackers In Delhi For Diwali With Strict Time Limits

This Diwali, Delhi will see fireworks — legally! The Supreme Court has permitted the sale and use of green crackers in the capital between October 18 and 20, but only under tight restrictions. Fireworks can be burst only on October 19 and 20, between 6–7 AM and 8–10 PM. The court emphasized that only QR-coded green crackers approved by NEERI will be allowed, while police teams will monitor compliance. The Delhi government welcomed the move, calling it a balance between celebration and environment safety, and may even consider cloud seeding to tackle post-Diwali smog. The CPCB and state boards will monitor air quality from October 14 to 25 and submit their findings to the Court.
