Following violent attacks on TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and MP Kalyan Banerjee, political tensions have spiked across West Bengal. Reporting from outside Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Kalighat residence, India Today’s Anupam Mishra confirmed that an emergency legislative party meeting had to be cancelled after only 20 MLAs managed to attend. The TMC clarified that most lawmakers remained in their respective districts to manage ongoing grassroot protests and protect party workers. The party has now announced state-wide block and ward-level demonstrations for June 1, followed by a massive sit-in led by Mamata Banerjee herself at Kolkata's Rani Rashmoni Road on June 2.
