Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted how wider use of artificial intelligence across agriculture, healthcare and education could benefit society. Citing examples from AI experiments in farming, Vaishnaw said yields have increased by around 40%, while water and fertiliser use have also fallen. He also pointed to AI-based TB detection as an example of its potential in healthcare. Vaishnaw said the government will float a consultation paper on AI regulation within a month, covering safety, cybersecurity, benefits, harms and safeguards against deepfakes. He added that an AI-focused curriculum is also being developed with industry, universities and the Education Ministry to prepare students for an AI-driven future.
