The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh is currently under scrutiny following a Supreme Court directive for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into government contracts awarded to firms associated with the family of the Chief Minister. The Congress party is demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, citing the observations of the court regarding conflict of interest, transparency, and public trust. The preliminary inquiry stems from a public interest litigation alleging that multiple family-linked firms secured one hundred and twenty-one contracts and three hundred and twenty-two work orders worth over one thousand two hundred and seventy crore rupees between 2014 and 2025. The state government has acknowledged the ownership of these firms in court filings. The Central Bureau of Investigation has been directed to submit a status report within sixteen weeks to determine if a formal criminal case is warranted. A team has already visited the state as part of the ongoing investigation, with the state government assuring full cooperation in the legal process.
