Bengaluru Fake Medicine Racket: Counterfeit Drugs Supplied To 90+ Hospitals, Pharmacy Owner Held

A suspected counterfeit medicine racket has been uncovered in Bengaluru, with investigators suspecting that fake or repackaged medicines may have been supplied to more than 90 hospitals and clinics. A joint probe by the Bengaluru Police SIT and Drugs Control Department led to the arrest of pharmacy owner Veeresh Kumar Jain after a raid at Krupa Healthcare near Minerva Circle. The investigation follows an earlier seizure of alleged counterfeit medicines worth around ₹5 crore in Bengaluru South. Authorities also recovered fake invoices, injection-filling equipment and counterfeit labels. Investigators suspect low-cost medicines were rebranded and that expired drugs may have been repackaged in fresh containers.
