At the India Today Roundtable Karnataka, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya argued that Bengaluru’s traffic problem cannot be solved simply by building more roads. He said the city needs stronger public transport, faster Metro expansion, better bus services and progress on suburban rail. Surya criticised the proposed tunnel road, citing its estimated cost and arguing that a Metro could transport far more people using similar investment. He also raised concerns over the proposed use of Lalbagh land for the project. Surya said the BJP supports development initiatives but will oppose projects it believes do not effectively address Bengaluru’s congestion.
