Blinkit Store Faces FDA Action: Cockroaches, Expired Food Found In Mumbai Store

A food-safety inspection at a Blink Commerce Private Limited store in Mumbai’s Malad West has raised serious hygiene concerns. Following an inspection on August 7, Maharashtra FDA suspended the store’s food licence after flagging cockroaches around fruit and vegetable stocks, allegedly expired food products, damaged packaging and food items stored directly on the floor. The inspection also highlighted rusted racks, poorly maintained cold storage, inadequate pest and rodent control, waste-management concerns and gaps in employee hygiene and health records. The action comes as Maharashtra’s FDA steps up its statewide food-safety crackdown across restaurants, canteens, manufacturers, distributors, storage units and retailers. For quick-commerce customers, the bigger question is simple: when groceries arrive in minutes, are the hygiene checks keeping up?
