Cockroaches, Rotten Food Found At Eateries | Maharashtra FDA’s Big Food Safety Crackdown

From live cockroaches in kitchens to rotten paneer and food stored on dirty floors, Maharashtra’s latest food safety inspections have exposed serious hygiene lapses at eateries. An inspection at a McDonald’s outlet in Colaba allegedly found live cockroaches, rotting food waste and poor hand hygiene, while the Bombay Presidency Radio Club faced action over flies, cockroaches and improper food storage. At a hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, officials allegedly found spoiled paneer, uncovered noodles and vegetables being prepared near a filthy toilet entrance. Under the ‘Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign, the FDA inspected 89 establishments and suspended 13 licences. FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe says the focus is on results—not just inspections or penalties.
