India’s First Secretary Raghoo Puri hit back at Pakistan during an interactive dialogue with a UN Special Rapporteur, rejecting Islamabad’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as “pure propaganda.” Puri reiterated that J&K and Ladakh are inalienable parts of India and criticised what he described as attempts to gain narrow political mileage through such allegations. Puri also raised concerns over alleged factual inaccuracies and bias in the Special Rapporteur’s report, citing the UN sanctions listing related to Dawood Ibrahim and D-Company. He called for greater accountability, probity and impartiality from special mandate holders, while warning against the use of human rights and counter-terrorism frameworks by alleged sponsors of terrorism.
