Delhi Shalimar Bagh Mosque Demolition Triggers Political Row Over Midnight Road-Widening Drive

A late-night demolition drive in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh has triggered a political controversy after portions of Madina Mosque and adjoining structures were removed during an ongoing road-widening exercise. Civic authorities said notices had been served and the action was aimed at clearing structures falling within the road-widening alignment. The mosque committee, however, questioned the timing of the operation and alleged it was given limited time to respond and remove belongings. AIMIM leader Shoaib Jamai criticised the action, while Congress leaders also raised questions over the demolition. The controversy has now widened into a debate over procedure, notices, road expansion and allegations of political bias.
