Delhi SIR: 47.5 Lakh Names Off Draft Roll, 33 Lakh Voters Flagged For Discrepancies

Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has put millions of voter entries under scrutiny, with names flagged for different categories of discrepancies. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that eligible citizens remain on the electoral roll while ineligible entries are removed. Notices have been issued to voters whose records require verification, but the Election Commission has clarified that receiving a notice does not mean a voter has been declared ineligible. Electors can submit documents and explanations, which will be examined by the Electoral Registration Officer before a decision is taken. Delhi’s SIR is now in the verification stage, with claims, objections and notices being processed before the final electoral roll is published.
