From Noida To Lucknow: Food Safety Raids Uncover Rodents, Rotten Food And Hygiene Violations

Food-safety inspections are intensifying across several parts of India, with authorities checking restaurants, hotels, fast-food outlets and other food establishments. In Lucknow, officials reported rodent infestation, fungal growth, poor hygiene and improper food storage, leading to operations being stopped at a Subway outlet in Alambagh. In Noida, 71 establishments were inspected, with violations including rodents, fungal growth, expired food and improper storage; licence suspension proceedings were initiated against 13 establishments. Inspections in Bhopal, Kanpur, Jaipur and Shivamogga also reported hygiene and food-safety violations, including rotten food and fungus-infested fruits. The inspections highlight growing scrutiny of food hygiene and safety standards across cities.
