A farmer in Rajasthan is finding a new way to earn from the same piece of land by combining agriculture with solar power. Kajodmal Jat, from Kundanpura village, grows maize, green chillies and tomatoes beneath solar panels installed around 11 feet above the ground. His 600-kW solar plant supplies electricity to the grid, while the partial shade helps retain soil moisture and reduces exposure to intense sunlight. After switching from traditional crops such as wheat and bajra, Kajodmal is exploring a dual-income model. He expects earnings from farming and solar power to exceed his earlier agricultural income.
