A major land scam controversy has erupted in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district involving a 2.307-hectare plot in Sarai village. Allegations suggest agricultural land near a garbage dump was illegally converted into commercial use, causing its value to jump sharply before being purchased by the Municipal Corporation for ₹54 crore in December 2024. Investigators claim procedural lapses and fast-track approvals played a key role, with officials including municipal and revenue authorities later suspended following a government probe.
