“India-China Ties Better Today”: Jaishankar On Border Standoff And Improving Relations

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke about the improving trajectory of India-China relations during an address at the Asia Society in New York. Jaishankar said the relationship is better today compared with 2025 and even more so compared with 2024, following the resolution of the prolonged border standoff that began after tensions in 2020. He said the border situation had significantly affected bilateral ties and argued that a prolonged standoff did not serve the interests of either India or China. Jaishankar added that as the border returns towards normalcy, broader bilateral relations can also improve, potentially benefiting both countries.
