“India Must Become Globally Competitive”: Rajnath Singh On Maritime Power And Shipyards

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called for India to move beyond self-reliance and become globally competitive in shipbuilding and maritime services. Speaking at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Singh said Indian shipyards must aim to serve not only the Indian Navy but also friendly nations and international markets. He highlighted the need to build global capabilities in maritime technology, ship repair, maintenance and engineering, with quality, cost, technology, delivery and reliability becoming key benchmarks. Singh also stressed the importance of stronger shipyards, technology, skills and maritime infrastructure for India’s strategic interests. He said India’s maritime capabilities will be crucial to building a developed and secure India by 2047.
