“India Must Become The World’s Food Basket”: Shivraj Chouhan At India-Japan Business Conclave

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed the India-Japan Business Conclave, highlighting the role of Japanese companies in India’s agricultural transformation. He congratulated Kubota and Minda Corporation on their virtual inauguration and praised Kubota’s eight-decade association with Indian agriculture and farm mechanisation. Chouhan said the government’s focus is on building prosperous agriculture, increasing farmers’ incomes, reducing cultivation costs and promoting value addition. He stressed that India’s ambition should go beyond feeding its 140 crore citizens, with the country aiming to become the food basket of the world. He also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s importance as India’s largest state in driving agricultural growth.
