India has responded to the US Department of Labor’s suspension of PERM applications for certain companies, clarifying that the move does not automatically affect the validity of H-1B visas or the status of visa holders and their dependents. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the decision could, however, affect eligible employees’ green card processes. He stressed that talent mobility benefits both India and the United States, supporting innovation, productivity and job creation. Responding to US Vice President JD Vance’s remarks about Indian professionals, Jaiswal called the terminology deeply offensive and said it ignored their contribution to the American economy and innovation ecosystem.
