Karnataka Fake Drug Crackdown: 16 Licences Cancelled, 8 Suspended In ₹5-Crore Racket

Karnataka’s drug regulator has intensified its crackdown on an alleged fake medicine racket following raids that began at a farmhouse in Bidadi on August 18. The Karnataka FDA has cancelled 16 drug licences and suspended eight more after tracing retailers and wholesalers allegedly linked to the sale of counterfeit medicines. Authorities seized 5,640 vials of CEFIAVIGENT injections valued at ₹3.38 crore, 1,531 HIZLAM injections worth over ₹52 lakh, along with expired medicines worth ₹35 lakh. Investigators say the wider probe has identified alleged supplies to more than 90 hospitals and clinics. Samples have been sent for laboratory testing as the SIT investigates the entire supply chain.
