The battle over electoral rolls is intensifying in Karnataka, with FIRs registered amid allegations of questionable Form-7 applications seeking deletion of voters’ names. Complaints allege that genuine voters were falsely shown as having permanently shifted or being absent from their addresses. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar accused the BJP of a deliberate conspiracy to target voters, alleging that the party was behind the Form-7 applications. The BJP has rejected the allegations. Leader of Opposition R. Ashok accused the Congress government of using police action against BJP and JDS workers who filed Form-7 applications and said such electoral-roll complaints should be handled by the Election Commission.
