Karnataka’s Welfare Schemes Under Pressure As Finance Department Flags New Challenges

Karnataka’s welfare model is facing a financial challenge as the state government continues to expand guarantee schemes and announce new projects. From Gruha Lakshmi and Gruha Jyothi to Shakti, Anna Bhagya and Yuva Nidhi, these programmes together cost an estimated ₹50,000-60,000 crore every year. The state Finance Department has warned that Karnataka needs to be realistic before making fresh commitments.
