Massive unrest has erupted across Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir following a widespread public boycott of the ongoing legislative assembly elections. In Rawalkot, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli, heavy clashes erupted after Pakistani Rangers fired on unarmed civilians during a Long March organized by the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). With over 20 civilian fatalities reported, internet blackouts, mass arrests, and hospital lockdowns have gripped the region. India’s MEA condemned the crackdown, labeling the protests a direct outcome of Islamabad's decades-long administrative oppression, exploitation, and denial of fundamental rights.
