A deadly collapse has raised serious safety concerns in Mumbai. In Mulund, an under-construction metro pillar gave way in broad daylight, crushing an autorickshaw and partially damaging a car. One person was killed and three others injured. The victims, tourists from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, were visiting Mumbai. Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde admitted negligence by authorities, while BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha demanded strict action against the contractor. MMRDA imposed fines and warned of blacklisting. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a probe and announced compensation. The opposition has called it administrative failure.
