On the sidelines of the "Scaling the Green Transition" event at the London School of Economics, former 15th Finance Commission Chairman N. K. Singh spoke exclusively to India Today's Loveena Tandon on financing the global green transition. Singh said meeting climate goals would require far more than public spending and multilateral development bank funding, with private capital playing a crucial role. He highlighted the need for innovative financial instruments such as blended finance, guarantees, hybrid capital, and green bonds to reduce investment risks. Singh also emphasized stable regulatory frameworks and stronger domestic capital markets to mobilize the trillions needed for India's net-zero ambitions.
