Nandini Milk Gets Costlier: Why Karnataka Is Raising The Price From ₹46 To ₹54
- Updated Oct 8, 2026 1:21 PM IST
Nandini milk is set to become costlier in Karnataka, with the state Cabinet approving a proposal for an ₹8 per litre hike. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has been authorised to take the final call on the quantum and implementation. Because the Model Code of Conduct is currently in force for the Legislative Council elections, the government will need Election Commission clearance before formally implementing the hike. Reports indicate the revised price could come into effect from November 1. If the full ₹8 increase is passed on to consumers, Nandini toned milk in the blue packet will rise from ₹46 to ₹54 per litre. The proposed hike follows demands from milk unions for an ₹8–10 increase, citing rising costs of cattle feed, fodder, medicines, transportation and packaging. The government says the price revision is intended to improve returns for dairy farmers. Under a proposal reported by multiple sources, ₹6 of the ₹8 increase could go to milk producers and ₹2 to milk unions, although the final formula is yet to be confirmed.
