Nirmala Sitharaman Defines Viksit Bharat 2047: Zero Poverty, Jobs, Education & Healthcare

Addressing the CD Deshmukh Memorial Lecture at the 23rd India Policy Forum organised by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) in New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlines the vision for a developed India by 2047, going beyond GDP and per-capita income. She highlights zero poverty, quality education and healthcare, meaningful employment, women’s participation, empowered farmers and leadership in a technology-driven knowledge economy. Sitharaman also traces India’s long economic journey and emphasises the need to move beyond a colonial mindset and a psychology of victimhood. She underlines financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, access to banking and public institutions as key pillars of India’s development journey towards becoming one of the world’s foremost nations.
