Targeted killings of social media influencers are raising fresh concerns over women’s safety in Pakistan. In the latest case, 28-year-old TikToker Shamso Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead around 33 kilometres from Islamabad. She had more than 1.3 million TikTok followers. According to Pakistani media reports, two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire while she was travelling with her younger siblings. Her family has alleged a financial dispute, though the motive remains unconfirmed. The killing follows several other cases involving female TikTok creators, including Sana Yousaf and Sana Javed, highlighting growing concerns around harassment, violence and the risks faced by women online.
