Piyush Goyal Urges BRICS To Open Markets, UPI Linkages & Easier Global Trade

Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for deeper economic cooperation among BRICS member and partner countries, with a focus on opening markets, simplifying regulations and speeding up customs clearances. Speaking at the BRICS Summit, Goyal pushed for easier movement of professionals, mutual recognition of qualifications and stronger collaboration in agri-tech and food security. He also highlighted India’s growing women-led startup ecosystem and urged greater participation of women-led businesses in BRICS trade fairs and exhibitions. Goyal showcased India’s digital public infrastructure, including UPI, and called for greater linkage of payment systems, local-currency trade and digital commerce among BRICS nations. He also highlighted opportunities in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, engineering, electronics, automobiles, services and emerging technologies.
