Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday spoke after attending the pre-budget consultation meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi, outlining the state’s key demands ahead of the Union Budget. Sawant said Goa has sought the continuation of ongoing central schemes and special assistance for the tourism sector, given the state’s reliance on tourism. He added that funds were also requested for the health sector, infrastructure development in the newly created Kushavati district, and upgrades to the Konkan Railway. The Chief Minister said Goa has consistently received support from the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and expressed hope for favourable budgetary provisions this year.
